Empennage - Horizontal Stabilizer

2003-07-29 - Riveting the Horizontal Stabilizer - part 1. (5.0 Hrs).

I needed to deburr the rear HS spar since I didn't have a Deburring tool when this was supposed to be done. Then, I got to do my first major riveting session (the first rivets were on the center bearing, but there were only 8 rivets). The riveting went very nicely, with only one rivet that got dinged.

Here's the back side. Hard to see, but all shop heads look good. Note, that they don't quite meet spec. This is because Van specifies a rivet that is just a little too short, but they are big rivets, and there are lots of them, so I'm not worried. On the other hand, the hindges all have an extra long rivet, so I guess things average out.
