Empennage - Horizontal Stabilizer

2003-08-03 - Riveting the Horizontal Stabilizer. (3.0 Hrs).

Finally, started to rivet the ribs to the skins. Here's the HS-708 rib pop-riveted to the front spar and the 702 rib. The 702 rib has been riveted in place with the flat external rivets (an426's). This was a real pain, since there is very little space inside here. My hands are not that fat, so I feel sorry for those of you who happen to have fat hands. Of course, you probably have some friends, so I assume this is a lot easier if someone handles the gun while the other guy handles the bucking bars.
Here's the HS-706 end rib riveted to the end of the front spar. Now, that was a lot easier. I really like those AN470 rivets--easy to do a good job. On the other hand, those AN426's are going to be a real pain, especially, since they are the ones that show.
And here's the left horizontal stabilizer all cleco's together. Notice, that there are no clecos where the HS-707 rib sits, because that sucker is riveted in place. Maybe I should have taken a picture first.
And here's Dufus again. Showed-up again, to take credit for all my hard work (SOB).
