Wing - Spars

2003-12-02 - Fabricate tie-down assemblies (2.5 Hrs).

I had a fair amount of trouble with the tie-down assemblies. This should be a very simple procedure, but I seemed to make mistake after mistake. Incredibly, I spent 10 hours over several nights on the tie-down assemblies. How is this possible--read on.

First thing, is to cut off each spacer. Good old muscle power. That's right, old muscles.
Next, I weighted a spacer, just to see how much I would save by cutting out the lightening hole. As you can see, one spacer weighs just under an ounce. Hmm, how much can we possibly save?
The actual weight of 4 spacers is just over 3 ounces.
