Wing - Left Fuel Tank

2004-03-23 - Final preparations before Pro Seal - cut hole. (2.0 Hrs).

I cut out the hole for the tank access cover. I used the fly-cutter, but I had to finish the hole with a coping saw. The rib had quite a few buckles in it, so it would not lay completely flat on my drill table. I have a cheap benchtop drill press with a very small table (something like 6"x6"). It is hard to clamp things down, so I could not quite get the hole to finish (it was really rattling before I gave up). The flycutter is a scarry tool, but it actually works fine if you can get things clamped down correctly.

I just need to spend an hour and make a larger table for it, so I can safely use the drill press. Yeah, like I could do anything in an hour.

Big hole in tank rib.

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention, deburred the big hole and the T-407 access cover ring.
