Wing - Left Flaps and Ailerons

2004-06-13 - Flap and aileron preparation. (5.0 Hrs).

Today, I really wanted to prime all of the flap and aileron parts, but I kept finding things that needed to be done first. I found two more aileron ribs that needed to be match-drilled and deburred. I remembered that the aileron counterbalance (i.e. big honking heavy-assed lead pipe) needed to be drilled and cleaned-up. And, I needed to scotch-brite all of the parts before I could prime. I didn't make it.

I remembered to match-drill the aileron counterbalance to the aileron leading edge skins.
I got the idea for using a 2x4 to hold the counterbalance against the leading edge from Jim and Carolina's website a few days ago. I wish I had looked at their site today, before I started working. Their "one 2x4" method with the skins overhanging the edge of the bench looks a little better than my "two 2x4s in a tee" method.
Don't forget the two holes for the LP4-3 rivets in the end ribs like everyone else seemed to do. Here's how you drill the suckers. I'm not sure if I can get a pop rivet gun in there to set the rivets, though.
