Fuselage - Forward Section

2005-11-20 - Out of space. (0.0 Hrs).

No updates for a month, so what is going on? Well, I ran out of space in the garage, and I had to do something about it. So, I built an extention onto the front of my garage. I told my wife a year ago, that I was planning on doing this, but she was really opposed to the idea. However, ever since the "rats in the wing" episode, my wings have been sitting in my driveway, and my wife thought it was kind of trashy. Consequently, she was a little more open to the idea of extending the garage so we could cover up the wings.

Note, that I list this as zero time on the project, because it has nothing to do with building an airplane. But, be aware, that these things do crop up during a project, and they definitely take time. I spent 4 weekends on this stupid little project, and spent upwards of $400, but I think it was worth it.

Here's the problem. Besides the mess, note the table saw on the right. No way to get by this thing. Not even Houdini could build an airplane in here.
I have to agree, this does look pretty PWT.
Here's the first wall section. For some reason I have it in my head that walls are built on 18" centers. If you know anything about building, then you know they are normally on 16" centers (3 x 16 = 48). I'll never learn...
The wings are under that blue cover, which is what my wife want's me to hide.
Looks like this will fit, ok.
Everything is done, just needs a little trim work and some paint. Probably two hours, right? Nope, I spent another weekend after this.
Looks like the caulk man has been here.
All done, or are we?
Nope, still need to install a door. So, like everything else, this project may never be finished. Regardless, I'm going to work on the airplane next weekend.
