Fuselage - Cabin
Finished the left seat back. That makes two seat backs, so I guess I'm done. Now, it's time to start looking for some upholestry. I did a bit of practice making seat cushions last year, but I have not had the time to write it up. I made 5 or 6 seat cushions to test out some ideas for materials and techniques, and I looked at materials and foam at the fabric store. Then, I went on to other projects, thinking that I was a ways off from needing seat cushions, but here we are, with two seat backs ready to cover. When I get a chance I will add this to the "Extra Credit" section, where I'll be putting write-ups on my extra side projects.
 | Building the left seat back, we need to round the outside edge of the top F-637C angle. The belt sander does a good job here. After the belt sander, I used the vixen file to make the edge even, which is way more than is really needed. I mean, nobody is ever going to see the edge after the angle is riveted to the seat back. |

 | When I marked the eyelet to remove in the middle of the bottom hindge I must have had the hindge on backwards. I know, you're saying why don't I just turn the hindge over since it is not riveted yet. Unfortunately, that would give me another right seat back, so the hindge has to stay as it is. This is not a problem. I already checked and the seat back fits ok with the hindge on backwards. |
